Taylor Swift just lost her crown as the queen of awards show seat-dancing. The “Shake It Off” singer was dethroned by none other than Beatles great Paul McCartney at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb 8.
While McCartney, 72, is booked to perform at the Grammys, he stole the show at Los Angeles’ Staples Center from his seat in the audience. The “Only One” performer stood up and grooved to the beat when some of his contemporaries took the stage.
In a group that included Ariana Grande, Adam Levine, and Miranda Lambert, Electric Light Orchestra performed for the star-studded crowd. The veteran rockers teamed up with Ed Sheeran to play their classic hit 1970s singles “Evil Woman” and “Mr. Blue Sky.”

Led by singer Jeff Lynne, the band inspired a celebratory reaction from McCartney. The Beatle was caught on camera dancing on his own amongst seated guests. He clapped and moved to the beat, mouthing the lyrics to Electric Light Orchestra’s songs.
McCartney’s impromptu performance was cut short, however, when he noticed he was being filmed. The Grammy winner sheepishly grinned at cameras and sat back down after being caught.
The legendary performer recently worked with two contemporary performers, recording the new single “FourFiveSeconds” with Rihanna and Kanye West. McCartney released his last studio album of original music, New, in October 2013.
